Voltage Stability Analysis Using Various Indices
Abstract
Voltage collapse is root cause for the occurrence of blackout in a power system. Present increased load demand on system has put the system in stress condition. In addition, emphasis of all system line connectivity in the form of interconnections has increased the system complexity. This demands the power system engineers to identify or predict the voltage collapse in a power system. This article gives prediction of voltage collapse through various indices. The indices considered here are Voltage Collapse Prediction Index (VCPI) and Line Voltage Stability Index (LVSI). Based on these two indices the bus which is prone to voltage collapse and the line which is prone to voltage instability are identified. VCPI and LVSI have been calculated for various loadings in IEEE 14 bus system and simulation results are presented.
